about West and waynesboro

Western Albemarle, Crozet and Waynesboro make up this stunning region of central Virginia. Both Waynesboro and Crozet play host to crowd-pleasing fairs and festivals, so you will want to check for upcoming events and mark your Calander.

The further west towards Crozet you go the closer you are to the Blue Ridge Mountains and stunning scenic views. There are a few overlooks you will not want to miss off route 64 going from Crozet to Waynesboro or vice versa.

Also located right off 64 is the Afton exit where Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway converge. Skyline Drive takes you through Shenandoah National Park while the Parkway transverses through the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Crozet

The small town of Crozet nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains is best noted for its orchards, estate wineries, and historic Railroad Tunnel. Crozet hosts the popular Craft Arts festival every spring and fall, bringing in vendors and visitors from all over Virginia. Crozet’s best hidden secret is Our Lady of the Angels Monastery where local nuns make fresh homemade Gouda Cheese which is for sale to the public. In Crozet you can also find several resident owned restaurants including locally famous Crozet Pizza.

Waynesboro

Waynesboro at first glance would appear more metropolitan but hidden within the city’s depths is the historic town itself. Here old-fashioned streetlamps, shops and restaurants line the thoroughfare resulting in a more quintessentially charming village. Craft Breweries offering food, music and games can be found within the city. The Shenandoah Valley Art Center resides here as well. The center has multiple galleries, hosts an annual art show, and offers up special exhibitions and events.

Whitehall

White Hall is home to stunning landscapes and charming attractions. One of the highlights of this area is Our Lady of the Angels Monastery, known for their delicious homemade gouda cheese sold in two-pound wheels. But that’s not all White Hall has to offer. Wine lovers will be delighted to discover the incredible wineries that dot the landscape. And if you’re looking for a fun and unique experience, don’t miss out on the chance to pick your fruit at one of White Hall’s local orchards.
